När vi åt frukost såg vi ett par munkar som kom gående utefter strandvägen.
Efter frukost moppade vi in till Ban Phe för att handla lite kött och potatis m.m. till grillning på balkongen till kvällen.
Efter att vi varit hem med varorna gjorde vi oss iordning för stranden. Där nere hade det redan anlänt en hel del thailändare som kommit för att fira nyår. Eftersom det var lite molnigt och inte så jättevarmt när vi kom ner, satte vi oss vid ett bord som inte skymdes av träd. Men det tog inte så lång stund förrän solen bränt bort molnen som var, och vi hamnade mitt i den gassande värmen. Men det löste sig med ett par parasoll.
Idag hade paret som har ”gröna köket” tagit hjälp av släkten för att hinna med alla nyårsgäster. Så idag stod de även och grillade kycklinglår vid stranden. Så grillad kyckling (gai yang) och Papayasallad (Som Tam) fick bli vår nyårslunch. Vår lilla strandtik letade också upp oss som vanligt, och fick ta del av den grillade kycklingen. Vid gröna köket behöver man säga till om man inte vill ha en massa torkade miniräkor på sin Som Tam. Dessutom har de väldigt stark chili (prick) där så ni vet. Vill man inte ha allt för starkt räcker det med en chili i maten där.

Senare under eftermiddagen gick vi hem för att duscha av oss sand och salt och börja förbereda middagen.
Nyårssamtal med döttrar och andra kära, blev det också när vi kom hem såklart.
När solnedgången närmade sig drog mörka moln in och det började att regna lite smått. Men det försvann efter en stund som tur var, för de som skulle fira nyår på stranden. Nere vid Thanom Kitchens del av stranden ordnades grillbuffé för 160-170 pers. Så det hade varit katastrof för alla dem, om regnet tilltagit.
Vi klarar oss alltid under tak här på balkongen. Vi åt gott och blickade ut över folk nere på gata och strand. Förra året gick vi och lade oss vid 22.30 och satte klockan på 23.30 för att vara vaken då nyårsklockorna klämtade. Men den här gången lyckades vi faktiskt med att hålla oss vaken över 12-slaget.
Detta nyår var det inte många Luckyballoons eller fyrverkerier som steg mot himlen vid 12-slaget. Det råder fortfarande sorg i landet och förbud för att avfyra såna saker, samt att spela allt för hög musik. Så de som skickade upp dessa var troligen mest västerlänningar som inte visste, eller inte bryr sig om att respektera Thailands landssorg.
Vilket som! 12-slaget anländer ändå, med eller utan fyrverkerier. Så sex timmar före Sverige, önskar vi er alla ett Riktigt Gott Nytt År!
